Little Otto’s
Platform: Shopify
Copywriting: Client supplied
Little Otto’s is a locally owned chocolate shop in Busselton, Western Australia, built around an imaginative story involving a girl named Daisy and a blue whale named Otto who discovers he can blow chocolate from his blowhole.
The shop needed a website that could reflect this sense of fun and fantasy, while still delivering a clear, streamlined online store experience. With a playful brand and local presence already established, the goal was to build a Shopify site that would grow with the business, support seasonal campaigns and events, and handle online ordering with ease.
Our Approach
The project was developed on Shopify to allow scalability and seamless product management. Design-wise, the site strikes a balance between storytelling and usability. Key brand elements — including Otto and Daisy as recurring characters — were embedded throughout the experience to support brand recognition and customer connection. Structurally, the navigation was kept simple with clear pathways to shop, visit, and learn about upcoming events.
A coming soon landing page was crafted while the store was being set up, and custom templates were created in a development theme ahead of launch. SEO was built into the site architecture from the start, with a focus on targeting chocolate-related keywords in a regional context.
How We Delivered It
The build began with wireframing key layouts and defining which Shopify templates needed to be created. Product pages, event listings, and a story-driven Visit Us page were custom designed to align with the whimsical brand feel.
The ‘coming soon’ landing page included a playful welcome message and a newsletter sign-up to start building momentum before launch. The online store and product descriptions were structured with placeholder content in the early phases to speed up development, and high-quality brand imagery was used to bring the playful concept to life.
Once content was confirmed, the site was refined and tested thoroughly before being prepped for go-live. Support continued after launch, including guidance on managing events, updating content and improving discoverability through SEO.
