Karri & Coast is a new e-commerce brand created to showcase artisan makers from the Margaret River and South West region through carefully curated gift hampers. As a startup entering a competitive online gifting market, the business needed more than a website. It needed clarity around its positioning, audience, and digital strategy before launch.

The opportunity was to build a brand and website that felt calm, intentional, and genuinely local, while also being commercially viable and scalable. The challenge was launching a premium gifting brand without existing reviews, content, or product photography, and doing so in a way that supported Christmas trade without compromising long-term brand quality.

Our Approach

We began with a strategic foundation rather than jumping straight into design. This included customer persona development, competitor analysis, and a full e-commerce strategic blueprint to define how Karri & Coast should show up online.

The brand positioning focused on thoughtful gifting, Western Australian pride, and supporting local artisans. The website needed to evoke the feeling of heading south to unwind, while remaining clear, easy to navigate, and conversion-focused.

Shopify was selected as the platform to support future scale, product flexibility, add-ons, and collections. The site structure was planned around gifting intent rather than just products, allowing customers to browse by occasion, recipient, or mood.

SEO considerations were embedded from the start. Keyword research and intent mapping informed page structure, collection naming, and content planning so the site was built around real search behaviour rather than guesswork.

How We Delivered It

We began with a collaborative workshop and delivered a Strategic Blueprint covering customer profiles, competitive positioning, and digital opportunities. This was followed by a detailed SEO strategy outlining keyword focus, page intent, and optimisation priorities for launch and beyond.

Homepage and core page copy was written to reflect the brand’s values and tone, while also supporting SEO and conversion. Collection descriptions and product language were developed to guide customers through gifting decisions with ease.

The Shopify store was set up from scratch, including theme selection, branding integration, navigation planning, and collection structure. Placeholder content and imagery were used where required to allow design progress while product photography and final copy were completed.

Post-launch, the site is positioned to evolve as products, photography, and content are refined, with SEO foundations in place to compound over time.

This project demonstrates our approach to building e-commerce websites that are not just visually considered, but strategically sound from day one.
